Local iTV Player to Resell Technology for nCUBEBusinessWire - June 14th, 2001 ICE Interactive, Australia's leading interactive television (iTV) software developer has signed an agreement to become a re-seller of nCUBE video server technology in the Asia Pacific region. The agreement will enable ICE to bring to market complete pay per view (PPV), subscription based Video-on-Demand (VOD) and ad insertion technology solutions for network operators and specialist service providers throughout Asia Pacific. "PPV and subscription based VOD services are proving popular network operators as a new revenue generating opportunity, with demand likely to grow in Asia Pacific as the roll-out of broadband infrastructure continues. ICE has been selected as a local partner by nCUBE on the basis of its enabling infrastructure software for interactive TV applications and professional services capabilities, which are highly complementary to nCUBE's world leading video streaming server and ad insertion technology," said Adrian Wong, Vice President, Technology of ICE Interactive Ltd. nCUBE's n4 Streaming Media Appliance leads the market in two key areas that matter most to broadband service providers: throughput and scalability. The n4's throughput and scalability have been proven in the largest scale, most demanding deployments of streaming media in the world. "The agreement is a continuation of ICE's strategy of developing close business relationships with key technology providers in the iTV and broadcasting industries and extends ICE's ability to provide quality solutions to network operators and specialist service providers," added Mr. Wong. "We are looking forward to working with ICE Interactive, as they build state-of-the-art, enterprise grade, enabling iTV infrastructure and applications software for multiple TV middlewares," said Michael J. Pohl, president, nCUBE. "We are proud that ICE recognizes the n4 as a critical part of the success of a total VOD service."
