Catapult Communications Establishes Major R&D Facility In Melbourne

Catapult Communications (NASDAQ: CATT) today announced the establishment of a major new development laboratory in Melbourne, headed by Bryan McGlade, former site manager of Nokia's recently closed Melbourne R&D facility. Mr. McGlade joined Catapult on Monday, May 14 as Managing Director.

"We expect the Melbourne lab to give us a significant, long-term boost in our engineering capability," said David Mayfield, Catapult's Chief Operating Officer. "Melbourne is the largest area of telecom expertise in Australia, giving us a large pool of qualified candidates to choose from. With this new facility in Melbourne, Catapult will now have engineering organizations in United States, Europe and Australia." Mayfield added.

Bryan McGlade comes to Catapult Communications with over 19 years of telecommunications experience. Prior to his experience heading the Nokia development lab in Melbourne, McGlade held senior management and development positions within Alcatel Telecom and at the Integrated Communication Services Section of the Telecom Australia (now Telstra) Research Laboratories.

Catapult has also benefited from local expertise provided by Multimedia Victoria, the government agency responsible for encouraging high-tech industry in the Melbourne area.
