MP3 Summit Confirms High-Profile Panelists

PRNewswire - June 11th, 2001

Some of the pre-eminent leaders in the digital music space have confirmed participation as panelists at the much-anticipated MP3 Summit 2001: Mobilizing Your Music event to be held in San Diego on July 12 and 13. This comes at a crucial juncture in the evolution of the music industry, where digital rights management and online distribution techniques are becoming increasingly popular.

Leaders such as Dennis Mudd, co-founder and chief executive officer of MusicMatch, a company that's received critical acclaimed for its Jukebox software, will be part of an interactive panel moderated by Brad King, a multimedia reporter with Wired News. MusicMatch software allows music lovers to play, record, organize and discover music. According to the company, more than 20 million digital music fans use the MusicMatch software. Mudd is a returning speaker to the annual MP3 Summit.

Also serving as a panelist at Summit 2001 is Bryan T. Biniak, chief operating officer of Premium Wireless Services and YourMobile Network. Biniak has an extensive background in international business, consumer technologies and music. Prior to joining PWS, Biniak was CEO for Taipei-based MusicZone Inc., a mobile music solutions provider serving telecommunication network and network providers, device manufacturers and ICPs in greater China, Korea and Japan. He founded the company as a spinoff from the MIT Media Lab-incubated Harmonix Music Systems, which develops interactive music technologies and products for Internet, game console, PC, arcade, location-based entertainment, music, toy and karaoke companies. Biniak will serve alongside other innovators to tackle discussions on the future of mobile applications and the delivery of digital content.

MP3 Summit 2001 sets the stage for all types of progressive companies, individuals, technologists and artists working to eliminate the barriers between music and fans through innovation. Stimulating discussion and debate are scheduled to accompany the tech showcase of services and products. The annual conference hosted by MP3.com, Inc. (Nasdaq: MPPP), will showcase the Music InterOperating System (IOS), designed to mobilize the entire music industry for the first time by linking retailers, labels, music players, music fans, and hardware and software tools.
