World Trade Center Disaster

News arose moments ago that the World Trade Center in New York City has been struck by two aircraft in what is believed to have been a deliberate act of terrorism.

CNN broke the news regarding the first collision at approximately 11:15pm AEST, at which time it was announced that a single large aircraft had made a direct hit on one of the Trade Center's glass-covered towers. As the unbelievable scene unfolded on live television, a second jet was filmed crashing into the second tower.

The footage beamed from CNN's cameras highlights visibility conditions that could be considered nothing but perfect, and tracks of the angle of approach made by the second plane indicate without a doubt that the collision was deliberate and premeditated.

At this stage, very few details have arisen regarding the scope of the incident in terms of casualties either within the two aircraft, both of which are believed to be domestic airliners, or within the critical hive of industrial activity itself. What has been suggested within the past few minutes are that the aircraft may have been hijacked prior to takeoff.

President George W. Bush has addressed the nation, and the world, in order to express the seriousness of this tragedy and to call on the full resources of the USA's investigative forces to uncover the organisation responsible for this incident.
